En ella, la compa\u00f1\u00eda describe unas microc\u00e1psulas, tan peque\u00f1as como el ax\u00f3n de una neurona e implantadas en puntos clave del sistema nervioso perif\u00e9rico, que act\u00faan de electrodo gobernado de forma inal\u00e1mbrica desde una unidad externa. El nervio vago, por ejemplo, estimula la fase cef\u00e1lica de la secreci\u00f3n de la insulina (aquella que se secreta en preparaci\u00f3n a la absorci\u00f3n de una ingesta), que se encuentra afectada en personas con diabetes. De esta forma, de forma externa, el sistema puede enviar se\u00f1ales el\u00e9ctricas al nervio vago, desencadenando la respuesta fisiol\u00f3gica que promueve la secreci\u00f3n cef\u00e1lica de insulina por parte del p\u00e1ncreas, restaurando sus deficiencias. Se presenta tambi\u00e9n la posibilidad de la combinaci\u00f3n del sistema de neuroestimulaci\u00f3n con un monitor continuo de glucosa y control realimentado, es decir, un p\u00e1ncreas artificial que no infunde insulina, sino que estimula el\u00e9ctricamente los nervios para generar cierta acci\u00f3n del sistema glucorregulatorio. Verily Life Sciences trabaja ya con Dexcom en la miniaturizaci\u00f3n de monitores continuos de glucosa.<\/p>\n<p>En noviembre de 2016 se fund\u00f3 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.galvani.bio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Galvani Bioelecronics<\/a>, con sede en Reino Unido, por parte de Verily Life Sciences y GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), empresa dedicada al desarrollo de medicinas bioelectr\u00f3nicas para el tratamiento de enfermendades cr\u00f3nicas.
